IGCA Rescue - Arizona Placements 2006

Norman, a ~10 year old red male, placed in Phoenix, AZ on January 3rd.  Norman was one of six IGs turned into rescue due to the death of their owner, and is the father of the other five. Norman joins a family that includes Miss Tea (see Placements 2005), IG Harlee, and Kia and Buzz, the Rat Terriers. Norman is a big boy and has lovingly earned the nickname the Iggy Draft Horse.

Larry, an ~8 year old red male, placed in Phoenix, AZ on January 18th.  Larry was one of six IGs turned into rescue due to the death of their owner, and is a son of Norman (above). Larry joins a family that includes Twiggy (see Placements 2002) and sister IGs, Catey and Brandy. Larry is on the far right of the family photo.

Minnie, a 1 year old blue female, placed in Chandler, AZ on January 18th.  Minnie was purchased as a gift from a petstore, and the person that received her was not prepared for a young, active puppy. She was given to another home, and then landed in rescue. Minnie's new family includes two playmates, Arthur (see Placements 2005) and IG, Alice.

Leo, a 9-10 month old fawn male, placed in Tempe, AZ on February 3rd.  Leo was originally purchased at a petstore, then left at a petsitters while his family had a new baby. After the baby was born, the owners decided they did not want Leo anymore and gave him to the petsitter, who then contacted us to take him into rescue. Leo's new family includes two IG playmates, Gionni and Drako.

Fortuga, a 1 year old seal male, placed in Tempe, AZ on February 4th.  Fortuga was purchased in a petstore, then sold to another owner after only a short time. This owner brought him to a vet when he began limping badly and dragging his hind legs, where he was diagnosted with Legg Perthe's Disease in both legs. This is a genetic condition where the hip joint degenerates. Fortuga's owner could not afford the surgery, and turned him into rescue. After two surguries and months of rehab, IGCA Rescue gave Fortuga a brand new life and he can now run and play and be just like any other IG with his new family.

Penny, a 2 year old blue female, placed in Flagstaff, AZ on March 3rd.  Penny was originally purchased in a petstore and turned into a local Humane Society in 2004 in Missouri. She was adopted, and her new owners moved to Arizona in early 2006, where their roommate's dogs did not get along with Penny and would injur her. They decided it was best for Penny to come into rescue. Penny is a delightful dog, loves to play, and has the perfect home with IG Olive and her new family.

Styx, a 2 year old fawn male, placed in Cottonwood, AZ on March 16th.  Styx was turned into the Humane Society in Winslow, AZ, who in turn called us to take him into rescue and find him a good home. Styx joins a family of three other IGs, including Hank (See Placements 2005).

Scarlet, a ~9 year old red female, placed in Oak View, CA on May 13th.  Scarlet was one of six IGs turned into rescue due to the death of their owner. Scarlet is blind, but one would never know it with how much confidence she has. She found a perfect home with two other senior blind IGs, Willow and Kiwi, along with Lakeland Terrier Charlie, IG/Dachshund Sadie, Border Terrier Buster, and Maine Coon Cat Nando. Scarlet fits right in with this group and is now the resident Princess.

Sasha, a 5 month old red female, placed in Lakewood, CA on May 14th.  Sasha was purchased from an unreputable breeder out of a newspaper ad at 8 weeks old and turned into rescue after her owner had her for only days due to her barking and crying when left alone. Sasha is a very well behaved puppy and joins Lilly (see Placements 2005) in her new home!

Jack, a 5 year old fawn male, placed in Los Angeles, CA on May 14th.  Jack was turned into rescue because his owner's boyfriend had a Boxer that was too rough with Jack. Jack joins a huge family of rescue IGs that includes Beethoven (see Placements 2005).

Sputnik, a 6 year old blue male, placed in Gilbert, AZ on June 18th.  Sputnik was turned into rescue as his family was separating and couldn't care for him. Sputnik has a fellow rescue full-size greyhound as his new buddy and is loving the attention he is getting in his new home.

Xena, a 4 year old red female, placed in Gilbert, AZ on June 28th.  Xena was turned into IGCA Rescue in southern California and transported to Arizona to her new forever home where she joins IG, Marco.

Caesar, a 2 year old fawn male, placed in Chandler, AZ on June 30th.  Caesar, and his brother Santini, were turned into rescue in New Mexico as his owners were getting a divorce. They were transported to Arizona to find their new homes. Caesar joins a family with an IG playmate, Feebee.

Buddy, a 5 year old red male, placed in Scottsdale, AZ on September 13th.  Buddy has been through a few homes in his short life due to no fault of his own, including a home that turned him in when they had children and one where he wasn't fitting into their lifestyle. , Buddy is now in a home where he will be the center of attention, and will begin his training to become a Certified Therapy Dog.

Patch, a 2 year old black pied male, placed in Sun City on November 12th. Patch was turned into rescue with Lance (see Placements 2007) from an owner who could not housebreak them. Patch's new family is willing to work with him on his housetraining. Patch joins a group of kitties and Jake, a Toy Manchester Terrier.

Santini, a 2 year old fawn male, and Lucy, a 2 year old red female, were placed together in Phoenix on December 13th and 21st. These two HIGHLY energetic and playful dogs have certainly added spice to their new home!
