IGCA Rescue - Arizona Placements
Ezio (reneamed Enzo) came into rescue on
December 26, 2012 from Utah because the female Italian Greyhound in the
house did not like him and kept picking on him that he did not want to come
in the house.
Enzo was adopted on January 21, 2013. He is very happy
in his new home and gets along well with the other dog. He loves the warm
weather of Arizona and enjoys sitting in the sun. He no longer has to stay
outside and is very at ease in his new home. He is doted on constantly and
one of the children insists she loves him more than anyone else in the
world. Lucky for Enzo he found such a wonderful home!!!
been renamed Jerry is a 7 month old fawn male that came into rescue on
January 12, 2013. His owners purchased him at a pet store on impulse and
when they brought him home the Chihuahua did not like him so off to rescue
Jerry was adopted on February 2, 2013. He became a part of the family the
moment his new parents saw him. He loves his new brothers (one and IG and
the other a whippet) and he does great with kids! He loves to play, go for
walks, dog park and loves to go for rides in the car. He is housebroken,
uses the dog door and loves to snuggle in the bed at night just like the
other dogs! He is still a rambunctious puppy, and that is what his new
owners love about him! He is a fantastic fit and they could not imagine
life without him! And by the looks of his smile, I would say that he is
pretty happy there as well!
Rocco is a 3 year old
fawn male that was turned into rescue on February 25, 2013 when his owner
left him at a petsitter and never picked him up. After a month of trying to
reach the owner with no luck, Rocco was turned over to rescue.
Rocco was adopted on
March 20, 2013. He fell in love with his new parents as soon as he met
them. It was love at first sight. He couldn’t wait to meet his new
sibling and they immediately bonded. He loves his new home and all the love
and attention he receives. Lucky for Rocco he found his forever home.
Rat (renamed Sam) is a 10 year old seal and white male and
Pockets (renamed Sadie) is a 10 year old blue and white female came into rescue
together from the same home on February 17, 2013 from New Mexico when their
owner was losing their home to foreclosure.
Rat was adopted on March 22, 2013 and reunited with Pockets on April 19, 2013.
They are very happy to be with one another again and are dependent on each
other. They share food, a bed and their momma’s lap. They love to go for walks
and sunning themselves on the patio when they are home. Their new owner works
long hours and they are completely content with each other’s company. When their
mother comes home she showers them with attention, so they truly have the best
of both worlds.
Cleo is a petite 8-10
year fawn female that came into rescue on October 23, 2012 when her owner
kept moving and could not put her in a home with access to backyard that she
felt would be best for Cleo.
Cleo was adopted on March 23, 2013.
She now has two Iggy brothers
that are the same age and they just adore her. She loves to go outside and
sunbathe, and burrow under the covers in bed at night. Cleo is a very smart
girl; she can sit, lay, and use the doggy door faithfully. Her new owners
are so happy to have Cleo as part of their family.
Sister is a 10-12 year old black and
white female that came into rescue on February 17,2013 with her three
other siblings when health and foreclosure forced her owner to surrender
Sister was adopted on May 8, 2013.
Her new mother says that Sister is a love-bug! Her new playmates
consists of another IG brother, Marley and an IG sister, Izzie. Sister
and Izzie are especially attached to one another and are often found
snuggled in a little ball under a shared blanket. Sister loves her
backyard, and often spends her days “sunning” herself on the patio, and
then when it’s too hot, coming inside to the nice A/C. Her new family
has discovered that Sister comes with a little trick... When you give
her a treat, you can throw it to her and she will catch it in the air.
She is also quite the indoor “cricket-hunter” and keeps her new home
insect free! Her family loves Sister, and are blessed to have this
little love bug as a part of the pack!
Clyde is a seal and white 8 year
old male that came into rescue on July 8, 2012 when his owners
purchased a home that did not have a fenced back yard and did not
want to take him.
Clyde was adopted on June 1,
2013. Lucky for Clyde that he found such a wonderful home that
enjoys his constant need to be with you. He loves being with his
new mom and follows her everywhere she goes. He even sits by her
ladder when she was painting the interior of the house. He loves to
go to the door park and as soon as he gets there is runs around and
plays with every dog there. His a real social butterfly but he
always checks in with his mom while he is out playing in the dog
park. He is great dog to bring with to public places and loves to
ride in the car. Clyde came into rescue severely overweight but is
new mom has helped him keep his weight down and rewards him with
healthy treats like carrots. He has lots of dog companions and
could not ask for a better home! Yay for Clyde!!!
is an elegant 7 year old black and white male who was adopted
in Whittier CA on July 1st, 2013. Mezza came into
rescue on January 29, 2012 when a new baby came along and his
previous owners felt they could not give him the time and
attention he deserves. Mezza shares his new home with fellow
IGCA Rescue Zeta renamed Nello [see 2010 placements].
Mezza arrived at our home at the
right time . . . And pranced right into our hearts where he
always belonged! He shares a "Bi-State" home between CA & AZ
with his other IGCA/AZ little IG brother Nello & his
step-doggie-brother, Australian Shepherd, Sydney & with Madison,
his Great Dane, step-doggie-sister. It took no time for this
little fella to find his place on the couch. He shares summer
walks with his 4 legged siblings who, all together, are the
neighborhood stars . . . check out on EBAY Mezza "paw-graphs"!
brothers, Mezza & Nello, are taking swimming lessons & look
absolutely dashing in their swimming vests, they show perfect
olympic form, while their brother Sydney, true to his shepherd
nature, is ever watchful over his baby IG brothers. But it is
Mezza's contagious playful spirit that has us all doing doggie
circles & having a grand ol' time! We are so happy for having
him in our home & in our lives.
Curly is a 6 year old
fawn male Italian Greyhound that came into rescue on April 25,
2013 with his brother Tater when health issues forced his owner
to surrender them.
Curly was adopted on
September 4, 2013. Curly now shares a quiet home with his new
best friend an Italian Greyhound name Puccini. Puccini’s
brother had just passed away and he was feeling very lonely.
Curly brought the spark back to Puccini and he now has a new
Puccini and Curly get along
very well together. At first Puccini was not too sure of this
new guy coming in to his house and sharing his mother’s love.
Thanks to Curly’s easy going personality, Puccini was won over.
Now the two of them play, cuddle and sometimes sleep together.
They love to go on walks and enjoy quiet times at home with
their human companions. We were worried about separating Curly
and Tater but them both seem to be fine without the other.
Tater is an 8 year
old blue male that came into rescue on April 25, 2013 with his brother Curly
due to health issues of his owner. Tater was adopted by his foster family on
September 13, 2013.
When Tater came into
rescue he was very over weight for an Italian Greyhound. His has slimmed
down to his proper weight thanks to the diligence of his new mom and dad.
Tater also has become a great swimmer. He was taught how to swim in the
pool as soon as he came into rescue by his foster family which is now is his
“furever” family. Tater is very playful and will let you know he wants to
play by bringing over his favorite toy. Tater is kennel trained and knows
how to use a doggy door. He knows several commands such as stay, sit, come,
"hungry", "bedtime" and no.

that was a rescue and occasional fosters that he welcomes to his new home!
Cherry is a 7 year old fawn and white
female that came into rescue with her brother Dusty on December 18, 2011 due
to a divorce.
Cherry came into rescue with a liver and
skin condition. Her liver function tests were so high they were not even
registering on the meter. She also suffered from a very bad skin
condition. When Cherry was feeling good she was a bundle of joy and very
playful but when she was not feeling good you knew. After many tests and a
home cooked meals with lots of vitamins, Cherry’s liver condition is under
control and she is doing wonderful thanks to her dedicated foster mom who
now is her mom.
After almost two years in rescue, dreams
do come true, and Cherry was adopted on October 2, 2013 by her foster family
and her favorite friend, Shadow, who is a deaf racing Greyhound. Cherry
loves to snuggle up against Shadow and tries to play with her. She loves,
loves her mom and her favorite thing to do is sit on her mom’s lap at night
under a blanket and watch television. She still gets her home cooked
special liver diet that helps her liver and has completely cleared up her
skin condition. She lives a happy life and couldn’t ask to be in a more
loving, caring home. Hurray for Cherry!!!
Diana is 10 year old fawn
and white female that came into rescue on March 18, 2012 when her family was
moving and could not take her with them.
Lucky for Diana she was
turned in to rescue. She had an eye disorder called a subluxated lens which
was left unattended that caused her eye to bulge out and according to the
eye specialist that was very painful. She also had lots of skin lesions,
alopecia, and a mass cell tumor. Rescue took care of all these health
issues including the loss of her eye.
Diana’s foster family saw
what a special girl she was, and loved her so much, they adopted her on
October 4, 2013.
Diana lives in a home
with a lot of other Italian Greyhounds but enjoys spending time by herself.
Diana was left alone in the back yard at her previous home and is still
adjusting to being around other dogs and people who love her. She gets very
excited when she sees her mom and loves spending alone time with her mom and
dad. Diana gets extra special attention and is doted on constantly. Her
favorite thing is to lie in the sun or cuddle in her comfy bed under a
blanket. Diana never has to worry about being left alone again and truly
found her forever home!
Shadow is a 6 year old
black and white female Italian Greyhound that came into rescue on September
7 , 2013 when her owner felt overwhelmed with all the dogs she had and not
enough time to spend with them.
Shadow was adopted on
October 22, 2013. Shadow is doing excellent in her new home. She was a
little timid at first but quickly grew out of that and two months down the
road it feels like she's always been part of the family. Shadow and her new
sister, Dallie, get along very well, enjoy playing together, particularly
in the mornings, chasing each other around, playing keep away with their
toys, or just relaxing together in their blankets.
Lia is a 1 year old
seal and white female that came into rescue on August 29, 2013 when her
owner could not handle such a high energy young Italian Greyhound.
Lia was adopted on
October 22, 2013. Her new friend is an Australian Shepherd named
Roland. They are getting along splendidly. She loves what all Italian
Greyhounds do, cuddling,
sleeping under the blankets and
generally being among her
companions. The first day her and Roland go together, they were caught
cuddling. Her owner is so happy she has a new home and is excited to
Katie is a black and
white 3 year old female Italian Greyhound that came into rescue on August
29, 2013 with her sister Lia when her owner could not spend the time with
the dogs they deserved. When Katie came into rescue she was 25lbs. She
could barely walk and was breathing heavy.
Katie went in to a foster
home where she was put on portion feeding and walked regularly which she
thoroughly enjoy. Katie lost all that extra weight and slimmed down to the
size she should be. A friend visiting Katie’s foster mom fell in love with
Katie and adopted her on November 2, 2013.
Katie enjoys being the
center of attention as an only dog which she prefers. She is spoiled but
still kept on a portion control feeding schedule to maintain her new
figure. She enjoys going for walks, lying in the sun and socializing with
her human companions.
